Athletic Trainer
Qualifications: NATABOC certified, Registered Athletic trainer with New York State, Healthcare provider AED, CPR, and first aid certification.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide “ Athletic training services” to student athletes. This includes assessment, management, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of student- athletes in accordance with the NYS athletic training practice act.
- The athletic trainer will report to the Athletic Director
- Act as liaison between family physicians, medical specialists, athletes, parents, athletic director, school nurse, and academic deans
- Establish and maintain effective communication with students, parents, medical professionals, coaches, athletic director, and school nurse
- Maintain accurate records of injuries and treatments, occurrence reports, interval health forms, using the medical software Magnus
- Assist the nurse’s office in communicating student athlete medical alerts and emergency contact information to coaches
- Administer concussion baseline testing for student athletes
- Work with coaches in establishing and evolving injury prevention, pre-season, in season, and out of season strength and conditioning
- Adhere to and develop when necessary established Emergency Action Plan, concussion management protocol, return to play guidelines, distribution of OTC medications, and environmental hazard guidelines
- Provide game coverage for all home athletic events. Work with local ATC’s to arrange game coverage when there is more than one home game in more than one location
- Manage and maintain medical supplies, medical kits, AED’s, ice coolers, and water coolers
- Set-up and breakdown of water and medical supplies for home games.
- Supervise the fitness center before after school sports. Maintain equipment and arrange maintenance when needed
- Help maintain faculty, coaches, summer camp employees appropriate AED, CPR, and First Aid certifications, and “Heads up” certifications
- Potentially teach PE classes, AED, CPR, and First Aid class, Sports medicine class.
- Potential coverage for pre-season soccer trip and spring break baseball trip
- Maintain accurate medical records and accident reports
- Understanding and adherence to COVID protocols

Other Considerations
- Post graduation experience working with 5th grade through 12th grade
- Advanced degree preferred
- AED, CPR, and First Aid instructor preferred
- NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist preferred
- Teaching/ coaching experience preferred
