Part-Time Pre/Lower School Health Educator (Interim)
The Health and Wellness Department at Packer Collegiate Institute provides comprehensive health and wellness support and education for students in the Pre/Lower, Middle, and Upper School divisions, as well as for parents and caregivers.
We are seeking a motivated, dedicated, and caring individual to serve as the Pre/Lower School Health Educator, leading health education for students in Preschool (K3) through 4th grade and engaging families in the division. This is a part-time position (50% FTE), with work hours running Monday through Friday afternoons. The start date for this position is as soon as possible. The end date for this position is June 17th.
Responsibilities
The Pre/Lower School Health Educator will:
Design and teach age-appropriate health education curriculum, with a focus on social and emotional health, physical wellness, and decision-making skills.
Collaborate with teaching faculty and families to promote students’ physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Equip students with coping strategies to manage stressors, resolve conflicts, and make healthy life choices.
Stay informed about current best practices in health education for preschool and elementary-aged children.
Develop and present health-related workshops and resources for parents and colleagues.
Advocate for enhanced school policies and resources that support social, emotional, and physical health.
Commit to anti-bias and anti-racism work within and beyond the classroom, promoting an inclusive, equitable school community.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
A Master’s degree in Health Education, Public Health, School Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
Previous experience working in a school setting, preferably with preschool and elementary-aged children.
Familiarity with strategies for supporting diverse learning needs and promoting emotional and behavioral regulation.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with a wide range of students and families.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
