One-year Leave Sixth Grade Humanities Teacher 2025-26 SY
The Packer Collegiate Institute seeks qualified candidates for a one-year leave replacement position teaching Sixth Grade Humanities during the 2025-26 school year. We invite applicants with English and/or History instruction experience to apply.
Anticipated start date: August 2025
Responsibilities:
This leave position entails teaching two sections of Sixth Grade Humanities, an interdisciplinary course that integrates both English and History. The role also includes serving as an advisor to a small group of sixth-grade students, collaborating closely with a grade-level partner who teaches the same course, and working with an interdisciplinary grade-level advising team.
Teachers at Packer are asked to be available to provide their students with sustained, individualized attention outside of the classroom and to maintain frequent written and oral communication with students’ families.
Applicants should possess:
Comfort with the use of educational technology in the classroom, facility with electronic communication and learning management platforms
Exceptional writing skills
A commitment to anti-bias and anti-racism work and to promoting an inclusive, just, and equitable school community
Experience with a broad range of instructional practices that support diverse learners
A demonstrated commitment to continuous professional growth and the advancement of their teaching practice
Comfort with and enthusiasm for working with students in an advisory capacity
At least three years of middle school teaching experience (preferred)
A Master’s degree (preferred)

Salaries are determined based on a scale reflecting years of teaching experience and level of education.
