Physical Education/Dance Teacher (leave replacement)
The Packer Collegiate Institute is looking for a Physical Education/Dance Teacher (leave replacement) at the start of the school year through mid-December.
Anticipated start date: Late August 2026
The position offers an opportunity to be a part of both the Physical Education and the Arts departments. Candidates should be able to work in collaboration with current faculty to continue the growth of the program and a willingness to offer new ideas and initiatives.
Early Learning/ Lower School Responsibilities:
Lead or assist with dance classes in Kindergarten and Preschool.
Lead or assist a lower school physical education class.
Work with Physical Education and Dance faculty to create lesson plans and develop curriculum.
Continue professional development by attending meetings.
Middle/ Upper School Responsibilities:
Teach and take attendance for 7am yoga 4 days a week Monday-Thursday.
Teach and take attendance for lifestyle activities, such as Pilates and Yoga, fitness, for 7/8th grade students and 9-12th grade students.
Teach Dance Classes in grades 5 and 7.
Cover 2 Middle School Lunch Duties on Day 2 and Day 5
Advisory for 8-12 students 6th-8th grade students
Work with Physical Education and Dance faculty to create lesson plans and develop curriculum.
Continue professional development by attending meetings
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of prior teaching experience.
Thorough understanding of pedagogy and best practices of education.
Yoga certification
Skills & Abilities:
Assess student skills and performance and communicate progress to students and families.
Assess student skills performance and write narrative reports to communicate student progress to families.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Creative analytical and problem-solving skills.
